RESUMO
Este artigo foca algumas definições
úteis e práticas de termos relacionados
com o estatuto do embrião humano, tais
como “embrião”, “início da vida” e “pessoa”.
Este estatuto do embrião humano
é abordado sob diversos enquadramentos,
incluindo biológicos e filosóficos,
contemplando também as posições da
Igreja Católica e os problemas actuais
em bioética emergentes do contínuo
avanço da tecnologia. Algumas das
questões levantadas neste artigo são:
Será o estatuto do embrião “in vivo” e “in
vitro” diferente? Haverá alguma escala
de respeito relacionada com a idade do
embrião?ABSTRACT
This article gives useful and practical
definitions of terms associated with
the status of the human embryo, such as
“embryo”, “beginning of life” and “person”.
Biological and philosophical aspects
are discussed, which include some
history from Aristotelian ideas of life, soul
and common sense, via the views of the
Catholic Church to the current problems
based on advanced technology. Questions
arising include: Is the status of the
embryo “in vivo” and “in Vitro” diferent?
and Is there a scale of respect related to
the age of the embryo?
